The Debt Advice Service
Take the first step to becoming debt free
See if there is a way out of debt and get your life back on track. If you’re currently struggling with debt, there may be options available.
The Debt Advice Service is here to help you find out what your options are and to talk you through them in plain English.
Here’s the thing. When you’ve got debt worries, there are two very common things that might be holding you back from getting on top of your situation.
- Being bogged down by debt worries can stop you from taking a step back and looking at your situation through clear eyes.
- Feeling like you’re on a downward spiral, because you don’t know what your options are; then, not understanding what they mean in real terms once you’ve found out about them.
We can help with
Store Cards & Catalogues
If enough of your lenders agree, an IVA can freeze your interest and reduce your monthly repayments.

Listen to One Client’s Story Here
Josh is a genuine client who responded to a Debt Advice Service Facebook ad.
It’s compelling listening.
He freely admits he wasn’t keen – or hopeful – about taking to us initially. He only got in touch because he was at the end of his tether, missing repayments, taking out new credit cards and payday loans to service existing debts, and having debt collectors knocking on his door.
We helped Josh reduce his overall debt level from £11, 000 to £6,000, managed in one affordable payment of £90 per month.

Finding the right debt solution for you...
Spiralling debt can be soul destroying and have a negative impact on all other aspects of your life.
Now there’s a different, better way for you to find out about solutions that may be open to you.
And it’s very different from the common methods you’re likely familiar with. Talking to the Debt Advice Service isn’t like going to your bank, or trying to take out another loan or another new credit card.
As you’ll see, our services are quick, easy and confidential to access.
Best part of all, we don’t require any outlay or commitment.
You can decide for yourself, at your own pace, whether to act or not on any of the potential solutions we tell you about. But, talking about your debt problems and realising there are ways out can be a giant first move in the right direction.
Here’s an idea of some of the potential solutions that might be right for you, depending on your own individual circumstances –
A legal process that’s usually instigated by a debtor (the person owing monies) who is unable to repay their creditors. It’s imposed by a court and can relieve some or all debts.
Debt Management Plan
An informal arrangement with creditors that agrees acceptable terms of repayment of outstanding monies a debtor owes, usually in relation to a level of consumer debt that’s become unmanageable.
Individual Voluntary Agreement
(IVA) - A type of insolvency that legally obligates a debtor to maintain the terms agreed with creditors of repayment of monies owed.
Protected Trust Deed
Similar to an IVA but for Scottish residents.
Our team is extremely experienced in handling situations exactly like yours, positively, proactively and impartially.
You might want to take a closer look at some of the debt solutions we’ve mentioned before getting in touch.
But, don’t worry if they don’t make sense yet. We understand jargon can make you feel worse. It’s our job to take the time to understand your debt, then put your options in front of you in user friendly and common-sense way –
“I can’t recommend enough, they are so understanding, non-judgmental and helpful. Finally had a good night’s sleep and can see a light at the end of the tunnel.”
“Very professional and helpful. Lifted a weight from my shoulders. Thank you.”
